Elevate Your Game

If We Build It, Success Will Come

Our Ballogy team had the great pleasure to travel to North Texas to the town of Sherman to work with Coach Mark Kerkhoff and his Lady Cats of Sherman High School. Mark is a native of Indiana, so he knows good basketball when he sees it. He also knows what it takes to make good basketball, and is currently challenging his team to put in the work to make good basketball happen in Sherman.

A rapidly growing district about an hour north of DFW, Sherman has found itself in a highly competitive 5A classification, one slot below the largest in Texas. Not to be deterred, Coach Kerkhoff is taking the challenge head-on by utilizing the Ballogy app to foster competitiveness and accountability in his team.

Coach Kerkhoff took us up on our offer to bring our Ballogy team to his gym to help set his team up on the training app and learn how to use it. Once every girl was in the app, we did some footwork and shooting drills as the kids learned to record and upload their sessions. We worked with the high school team for the first hour, enjoying the interest and immediate competitiveness that seeing the data on the phone screen gave the girls. Once they saw the makes and misses calculating on screen in real time, they began to take ownership and focus to beat the girl beside them. The purpose of the app was confirmed in those first few drills.

The next hour saw a large group of energetic middle school hoopers. What was impressive was the excitement and buy-in from the young athletes and their parents. With 40-50 parents in the stands, we quickly got the young ones signed up in the app and went to work. Our Ballogy coaches leaned heavily on repetition, repetition, repetition as the key to helping young athletes master footwork and form. High on Coach Kerkhoff’s values is fundamentals. Little things matter. In full agreement, we worked on shot fakes into shots, footwork into shots, and angle attacks into shots.

While our time was short to work with the athletes at Sherman High School, we know that Coach Kerkhoff will maximize his knowledge and experience to keep them on track and improving every day. With summer approaching, he will be able to lean on the Ballogy app to maintain accountability and competitiveness in his team to keep developing and improving.

Our Ballogy Road Show team had a great time at Sherman High School. We have now done free sessions with LeTourneau University, Concordia University, Kirbyville High School, Xavier University (LA), Southern University of New Orleans (LA), Loyola University (LA), Midway High School, Pineywoods Academy, and many others…

The Ballogy Bus is rolling — and your school could be the next stop.

We’re bringing our team directly to gyms across the country for free on-site sessions: hands-on training, live data, and a firsthand look at what Ballogy can do for your program. All you have to do is say yes.

If you build it, success will come. We’re now booking summer sessions — get your school on the Road Show schedule today. Contact us at [email protected].
